Global geopolitics in the post cold-war era are very difficult for idiots and simpletons to comprehend, so there's no point trying to explain it to someone stupid enough to ask. You either get it or you don't.

the more it changes, the more it stays the same .. you will always have some sick frick that wants to the rule the planet .. they find a few friends that want to do the same .. then the rest of the planet has to stop them before they get too big .. wash, rinse, repeat since the beginning of time .. it's not rocket science ..

I'm intrigued by this world where Japan never existed? Is the Island still there or is it gone as well?

It's hard to say Desert Storm protected our freedom, but there was genuine concern that Saddam might invade eastern Saudi Arabia and would then be in possession of a huge % of the worlds oil (controlling the Iraqi, Kuwaiti, and Saudi fields), so that was certainly important for our economy.

The War on Woman kept me safe from Sandra Fluke. So that was worth fighting.

Modern day war is not the same as it was in the 1940's. Our modern military is battling enemies on all fronts, both foreign and domestic, to keep us free. We don't have to have a name for a war anymore to put in our history textbooks. Most of what our military does to keep us free goes unnoticed anyway.

Our recent wars have been to maintain our quality of life and I am fine with that
