How old are you?

Do you have any family? Wife? Kids?

Does "hometown" include family (Parents/Brother/Sisters)

Work related stress is self inflicted. It manifests when people start to believe what they do actually matters.

He could have a lot of responsibilities but his higher ups are more lenient on deadlines and will help him out if need be. Corporate environments are very strict and if you don't meet your deadlines come hell or high water, you'll hear about it.

This exactly.

The 2 hour + commute is round trip. Moving there is not an option.

Will get old fast. Besides that aspect, which is huge, A sounds like the best gig.

How do you know so much about the day-to-day interactions and situations of each company? Or are they based on the interview process and assumptions based on company size?

Every job has deadlines...I am not sure how that alone makes it stressful.

Depends on how much time you have between getting the job your supposed to do and when it's supposed to be turned in. It's like a professor telling you you have a week to write a 15 page report on something. You have to crunch everything in and work long nights just to get it done in time. But if they gave you two or three weeks, you could plan out times to research, write and do other things while you have some time off to recharge your batteries.

A multitude of things such as interview process, company profile, word of mouth, other colleagues in the same field, etc.

Why not:

quote:

A. Medium size company, high pay, high stress, hometown, 2 hour (or more) drive daily, laid back environment
.

And just live closer to work. That would be my choice.

Yes. It's about the companies and what I would be doing at each.

Why wouldn't you move closer to this job?

How high of pay? I do this now but I home office several days too, and I make real ugly money so it's well worth it. Long drives aren't bad, let's you unwind before getting home .

The 2 hour daily commute will ruin your life. My last job was an hour fifteen commute if there was no traffic. It sucked.

Plus, there was always traffic.
