My place is in Venetian Isles (near Slidell, but NOLA marsh) and I only go to Slidell for Rouses, Academy or Walmart.
If I had to live there I would chose Eden Isles.

I want to live on the water, in the backwoods or in middle of the city. Suburbs kinda suck.

The restaurant mentioned above, La Provence is in Big Branch

Dude, you're trying to pass. No one refers to the that area as Big Branch except the people that live in Lacombe and don't want to say they live in Lacombe. And it is a cool area, just sayin.

Eta: Lacombe is an oddity. I think the peculiarities of the local populace is what has stunted the growth of the area despite everywhere else growing significantly over the last decades.

Just saying...

Seriously though. My wife's family lives there. Many small villages of larger towns or smaller nearby towns use postal zip codes of the larger town.

I moved into the newest Kingspoint development - called Spring Hill - in 2004 not knowing it was a part of Kingspoint. It was a really nice hood before Katrina. Then it literally became The Hood... Got out as soon as I could.

My wife works at the hospital in Lacombe and I have to agree with you. Its very odd how an area so nice just hasnt built up over time.

Fumbled a punt against bogalusa in 1981. Cost us the game. Bad memories. I could never live there

I know bogalusa.
The good: no traffic and nice people
The bad: economy, schools, nothing to do
The ugly: the smell and dopers
Slidel is ok and never been to pearl river but I can visualize what it's like.

Same here - rarely get back that way except to visit an elderly aunt. Place is depressive as hell; can't imagine anyone with a choice choosing to live there.

Born and raised in Washington Parish, avoid Bogalusa if possible. Hell, avoid everything east of Franklinton. Washington and St. Tammany parishes are completely different places and not in a good way. I love living here but it's not for everyone.

They do have that gravestone place on 10 with the Mustang one and the Harley one riding a wheelie, so there's that

Buy some land in PR. Build a nice house. There ya go. Land is way better than any Mandeville lot
