Any help or suggestions are appreciated-things to do, things to see, etc.

I stay at Southernmost a few times a year.

It's the quiet side of the island.

I second VRBO. I rented a 2 bedroom 2.5 house on the golf course on stock island for $1500 for an entire month. Stock island is great too and its a rock throws distance away from Key West. You can ride a bike from the golf course to anywhere in Key West no problem.

We went there a couple years ago and stayed at the Best Western Hibiscus Key West. Great location right off Duval St so it was walking distance to everything. Reasonable price with big rooms and nice pool.

I stayed here and really liked it: Simonton Court

things to do, things to see, etc.
Drink, snorkel, take a sailboat cruise, see the goofy sunset cat act, drink, eat Cuban food at El Siboney, drink, bike around the island, eat conch fritters from one of the tourist trap joints on Duval, drink some more, go home.

I have never stayed in a hotel in Key West but go there quite often. The Chelsea House seems like a cool place to stay. I've been inside and walked around.

Most of the food on key west is horrible. It's tourist food and they don't give a shite what they serve you cause their cllients aren't repeat custumers. Your best bet is to try and find local's joints. Pepe's is a cool old place with cheap decent food. For a nice steak, Prime Steakhouse is pretty good.

Things to do? Mel Fishers museum is kinda cool. Don't really know much to do there cause its normally just a fuel stopover for the night.

I normally stay at the Doubletree. Go eat at Hogfish Grill on Stock Island.
