We are thinking about staying in downtown houston for 2 days to check out the city, but I dont know what part to stay in. We want to be in an area that has lost of restaurants, bars, etc. within walking distance.

any suggestions?

I camped out in the restaurant in center field in enron once. (Now minute maid).

It was cool but apparently you cant sleep there.

I don't know if I'd stay downtown to "check out the city". Besides Astros/Rockets games it's pretty much a ghost town at night(at least it was when I lived there).

Rice Village/Midtown/Galleria all have more bar and restaurant options

Another vote for Magnolia Hotel.

Great view on the rooftop jacuzzi/pool.

Hotel ZaZa is nice if you're taking kids to the museums, but it's a drive from Downtown/Galleria/restaurants.

I say Ikon because I've stayed there.

Never heard anything bad about Magnolia though.

How old is the OP?

And Gilley's. If OP wants to take Sissy out for a cocktail. But don't worry. Pasadena has plenty of fun places to hang out instead.
