Going to be there Tuesday night. As always, looking for a place that is walkable to bars/restaurants. Anyone familiar with the area?

It's a lot more fun then advertised.

I lived there for 6 years, it's not a bad place. If you want something walkable I recommend the Coutyard on 2nd Street in Old Town. It's about a block away from several restaurants and a movie theater (The Warren) that serves food and booze.

Nice. That was one I was looking at. Wichita known for any specific type of cooking?

The Drury there is actually an old hotel called the Ambassador. It's pretty nice.

BBQ, I recommend Delano Barbeque Company. It would be a little far to walk from where you are staying but very easy to get to if you drove. Old Chicago Pizza is very near to where you are staying and I always liked it for pizza and beer.
Also Pizza Hut was founded in Wichita. You can see the original building on the Wichita State Campus. It's no longer a restaurant it was just moved there as an attraction.

....but just to be clear - Wichita isn't known for any specific food category it's just that I found the BBQ to be better than average.

Best steak in town is Texas Roadhouse out near the airport. If you don't want to have to drive anywhere, stay in a hotel in old town like others have mentioned. Plenty of bars/restaurants within walking distance.

Depending on what you like to do, old town has museums, bars, movie theatre... little bit of everything. If I'm drinking in old town I usually either go to Pumphouse, Heroes, or Emerson Biggins. Mort's Cigar Bar is nice too if you enjoy smoking cigars. Old town is usually dead as hell during the week so it probably won't be too exciting and there won't be a cover anywhere I don't believe.

I had to go for work last year and stayed at the Ambassador. Probably won't get much nicer than it in Wichita.
