If you are trying to replace them and have never done it before STOP and call a professional to do the work. The cost differential is not that much to let a pro do it.

It also reduces the risk of death, so there's that.

Amen.
Unless the OP wants to smash a finger or two, that's the one job around the house I let the pros handle.

Wear a motorcycle helmet when you change them...
...and post a video.

Got mine off Amazon, even came with the winding bars you will need. I don't know why people say leave it to the pros. It was a piece of cake, just watch a quick youtube video first.

Definitely try Overhead Door in Zachary. They had a controller board i needed in stock when they were back ordered online. Saved the day.

Garage Doors are not to be fricked with.
In French, the command "Go repair le Porte du Garage" is a euphemism where the speaker suggests suicide to another.
tl/dr: Don't

Odds are good that you won't do harm to yourself for sure, but to me it's risk/reward challenge I'd rather not do.
I've handled steep roofs and shingles, installed gutters on 2nd floor roofs, and cut down trees that have fallen on houses due to tornadoes and hurricanes, but the thought to have that little cheater bar slip out of that little slot on your last turn and have that spring recoil all over your fingers scares the shite out of me.

There is nothing I can't do with my hands and I would pay someone to do it. It's something that can hurt you badly.

This is very true which is why you should research what you are doing (you tube videos are a great help) and be slow, methodical, and deliberate.
I've replaced the torsion springs twice: once on my garage and the second time for a neighbor.
I'm careful but not stupid. Each time I had a helper whose only job was to stand out of the way and hold a phone to dial 911 if I hurt myself badly.
By changing the torsion springs myself, the new springs have a service life of 90,000 cycles and cost less than $100 (8 years ago). I'm not planning on ever changing those springs again.

Let me echo the sentiments to leave this one to the pros. It's well worth the extra few bucks.
I will recommend if you change one side that's broken, then change them both.

I bought mines off of eBay. Install them myself. Working like new for the past two years.

The videos that I've watched on YouTube do not look half as hard as you guys are making it to be.
