I am seeing a chance of frozen mix and snow next Friday in South Louisiana. I need verification so I can get my sled ready.

A week from today is a bit far out for me to really dig into it but I guess a narrow band of sleet near Alexandria is possible. Snow generally to the north, rain to the south.

I wouldn't call it a good chance, but it's a chance

Okay, it went from 30% to 50 % chance in Mandeville. I know it is a long way to go in weather terms.

I can tell you with a certain percent of certainty that this will not happen.

I see mid 40's for the high and low. It's called rain at those temps.

168 hour forecast for Southern Louisiana:

GFS model forecast mostly zonal flow in mid levels of the atmosphere hence temperatures expected to be well above freezing in southern La. Temps around 50-55 F

ECMWF model develops long wave trough will more significant cooling by next weekend. It would take a significant depth of sub freezing temperatures in the cold layer to produce snow assuming moisture were available AND a lifting mechanism, such as a short wave or vorticity maximum were present over the area. 168 hours is too long to determine the wrinkles in the long wave pattern.

Should have a better idea on pattern resolution by Tuesday.
