How do I know the mattress needs replacing? My wife thinks it has an expiration date of some sort.

Maybe she is the one with an expiration date.

You can tell her I said that.

When your fat arse can get in on the side of the bed and roll into a specific spot, it's time to get a new one.

Your wife is probably tired of you rolling into her space.

They say about 8 years. I have no idea where that made up number comes from. Probably from mattress manufacturers

When it can no longer hold its shape. So basically the same way you know your wife needs replacing.

preferably topless. I am sure you got some.

we have had our mattress 11 years, and it seems just fine to me. We discussed getting a king vs. our current queen but thought it would be too much $$

Don't even think in this situation. Always go King.

This will sound crazy... but check Amazon for mattresses. Nice, pretty cheap, and they deliver it to your door. (No hassle and the low price allows you to upgrade more often.)
Also, for what it's worth, IMO just about any king is better than the best queen... once you get used to the space you'll never return to a queen.

When the dude she is banging says its time, its time.

But really, mattresses gain weight over time, mostly due to skin cells. That fact grossed me out to buy new ones. And grossed me out even more knowing a took one out of someones trash when i was 19 and thought "this thing is great"

If you decide for a new one and like a relatively firm mattress, go with Casper.

I found out about it through TD

$800. Ships free to your door in a box. 100 night return policy. 10 year warranty. Only one model to choose from. I have been very pleased with mine.
