Is it all about finding a new hobby or rededicating yourself to the things you liked to do but maybe havent had time for?

Or do you just go buy something in the hopes of it giving some satisfaction?

I pretty much went through something like this a while back after some life events occurred.

I started volunteering as a chapter adviser for my fraternity and started volunteering as an assistant coach for a middle school basketball team.

It has shaken things up, made me more busy, but I have to say that I am really enjoying it so far

I consider myself incredibly blessed and remember tough times in my past to give myself some perspective. Life doesn't always have to be exciting everyday.

I also change up small things I can(workout routines, etc) to mix things up.

You answered your own question. As we go thru life, people die and people change. Whether you know it or not, we are changing every day. Our mind grows every day and encourages our bodies to adapt to the new information. It's called life. It's like the old saying "The more things change, the more they stay the same." Stay dedicated to the things you like and add more things that you like to that.

All these things are simply a temporary fix, a band-aid on a bullet-hole. You'll probably do all of these, maybe find religion, perhaps even convince yourself you're in love. But eventually you'll realize it's all meaningless and just start counting down the minutes til you die.

lsunurse, I agree with you. My wifes close friend had a husband who had brain cancer that was slowly eating him away. My wife was on the phone with her at least every other day and one day her friend said, "it's been a boring day." My wife said "sorry" but her friend said, "you don't understand, boring is good right now." She was saying that her husband was asleep and not in agonizing pain at that moment. I will never forget when I heard this and that was about 14 years ago. He died about a month later.

I hope this is sarcasm, if not I will pray for you brother.

Take up a hobby you enjoy that lets you escape the pressures of life momentarily. For some, that's hunting, fishing, working out, racing, whatever. Find your peace, we all need it.

Go camping and walking around in the woods or along some cliffs. The closest place for cliffs and caves is Sand Rock Alabama. Car camping and plenty of places to get lost.

Pack your shite up and move to some place you've never been before. There's your cure.

I can relate. Great wife, two awesome kids but I'd go home and think " is this it?" I'd even tell myself to snap the frick out of it and think how lucky I am. It passed some but still there a little.

BTW how old are you?

I went through a time of this. Then I saw a few terrible tragedies happen to people I loved. I went through a time of loss myself, and I realized how blessed I truly am to have breath in my lungs, a family who stands by me and supports me, a husband who loves me in spite of myself, and kids who are my heart. I'm too busy focusing on those things to ask " what else is there?"

You should go back to school and bury yourself in debt to give you the motivation to succeed.
