Watched it live when I was a kid and still thought it was all real. That was the single greatest thing I had ever seen in my life to that point.

He jumped into it to help out. Kinda like Trump helping out his buddy Hillary get elected. It's all staged, yet people still fall for it.

Did not watch it live
Was 4 at the time
Not sure if biggest moment in wrestling but it's way up there, I'd say top 5
Andre helped, there's no way Hogan could've slammed him if he didn't help

i miss old school wrestling, I cannot watch this new stuff, I've tried but just can't get into it

WWE winning the Monday Night wars really put the nails in the coffin for me. Its been downhill since then.

I was in attendance when Goldberg beat Hogan for the WCW championship back in the day on Nitro. shite I've never heard so much noise as when the ref counted 3.

Doesn't he hold the world record for most beer drunk in one sitting?

Andre, either officially or unofficially holds all the records for drinking.

The one you're talking about, though, is he once drank 1 beer short of 5 cases in 6 hours - 1 beer every 3 minutes, essentially, for 6 hours. Try to wrap your mind around that.

7000 calories, per day, of alcohol for essentially all of his adult life, certainly from about age 25 until his death 22 years later. There is even a medical achievement attributed to this capacity - for very large persons, they can calculate how much anesthesia they need based on their alcohol tolerance based on Andre's experience with back surgery.

There were many other guys that slammed Andre long before Hogan did; heck, that east even the first time Hogan had slammed him (he had done it several years prior).

In addition, WWE led fans to believe that Andre was undefeated at the time, which was false. He had multiple pinfall losses during his career, to guys such as Ron Garvin, El Canek, Seiji Sakaguchi, and Antonio Inoki (who also holds a submission victory over him).

First live card I ever attended featured a co-main event of Andre vs. Blackjack Mulligan and Bob Backlund defending the WWF title vs Superfly Snuka.

NEVER FORGET 2/5/88

LOL at the people saying "Meh he had to jump to help him"

Wrestlers jump and help each other all the time. That is how the business works.

Still takes a pretty ridiculous amount of strength to do what Hogan did without just collapsing with Andre on top of him.

Also don't forget when Lex Luger "slammed" Yokozuna on the USS Intrepid. I'd've been interested to see if guys like Lesnar or Goldberg would've been able to perform their finishers on Yoko. Mark Henry and Braun Strowman, too.

A body slam is a heck of a lot different than Goldberg's Jackhammer. Goldberg didn't just put Big Show up he held him there for a full second. I remember watching it in 9th grade thinking Goldberg was frickin superhuman

Their have been some iconic moments in wrestling history that stand out to me:

Hogan slamming Andre

Bret Hart screwjob in Canada vs Michaels

Hogan turning heel and joining the NWO - everyone thought he was coming to help Luger, Sting, and Macho Man and he flips the script and does the leg drop. The rest was history...

These 3 moments are my top 3 in wrestling history.

On par with the moon landing or Kennedy assassination. I'll never forget where I was and what I was doing when that happened live. It was jaw dropping.

NWO

lol, when they were starting it, they would literally destroy the last 15 minutes of WCW. Beating the shite out of the wrestlers, announcers if they had too, and the set.

No.
No.
No.
No.

You know how many people had done it before that moment? Like dozens of people. They just did the typical "FIRST TIME EVER!" thing. It's an iconic moment in wrestling, but it's really just a body slam that had happened at house shows for decades.
