what benefits do I get from being married? I don't see any.
that is why. Its just a cost without tangible benefits. The wife feels the same way. We would still be in a committed relationship, and I wouldn't be in to keeping my options open. We just wouldn't have had a wedding ceremony which really was her mother's gig anyway.

If you have kids, it's cheaper than child support.

It's completely absurd that you think you have the authority to speak for what God would want.
“Anyone who divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery against her. 12 And if she divorces her husband and marries another man, she commits adultery.” Mark 10:11-12
That's straight out of Jesus' mouth. I don't think it. It's what He said. This world has become blinded, but God doesn't change His mind.

Good question. If the spouse is, Hypo: let's say, alcoholic and mentally and verbally abuses. Aren't they sick and need help, therefore breaking the vow?

You're not allowed here. They're missing you on the Poli and over 50.

you're not legally required to get married. It's totally up to you and your spouse.
If you treat every relationship you are in past a certain age (anywhere post college really) like an engagement then you won't get tricked into marrying the wrong person for the wrong reasons.
I never had many gfs during the time period after college and prior to marriage. I just didn't see the point. If there was a girl that I wanted to have sex with but not marry... I would just do that...but not make her my gf...why?
The moment you know you will never marry your gf or your gf has qualities that you would never want in a wife, cut bait and break up with her. You're just wasting each other's times and building her hopes up. You could keep her around for the sex but after years of being faithful to the gf you have no long term future with...you'll realize you wasted a lot of your prime years.
But if marriage is not something you want to do in your lifetime, go ahead, be that guy that ALWAYS has a gf.
