I know the festival is this weekend, but do they have the bonfires up and ready to view? Never been and looking to check it out

Drive down river road. They've been going up for miles and miles over the month.
Most are already built. Some in the process of being built.

I have some 3rd cousins from Lutcher who are fine arse hell and I would totally go bama on them but their accent is gutteral and repugnant.

I thought they lit the bonfires on Christmas Eve.

They're being built right now.

I thought they burned them Christmas Eve.
Eta: red stick got it...light the way for Popa Noel
Matter of fact a guy at the office said they finished building theirs this weekend.

Wait, don't they light the bonfires on Christmas Eve?
My Uncle used to live on the river road in Lutcher across from the ferry landing. Every Christmas Eve was spent at his house watching the bonfires.
I know they have been regulated in recent years, but traditionally most were built after Thanksgiving with completions shortly before Christmas.

They begin building them week after thanksgiving, 3 are lit each night of the bonfire festival this weekend...the rest are lit Christmas Eve

Thanks for saying that. I miss those family reunions as a 13 year old.

Yeah I found out 2 kids later that me and my wife are 3rd cousins, like thrice removed or some crap. We laugh about it, every now and then I throw out the "hey couz" to her to creep her the hell out. It's kind of fun, in an Old Testament sort of way (if you catch my drift).

You have to say it when you are deep inside her for the best effect, and in your deepest, Barry White-iest voice.

Went to Hymel's today for lunch. Saw one built already on the way.

I'll certainly try that.

Heading over to the festival Saturday evening, Bucktown AllStars playing. If Lutcher wins the title Sat afternoon it should be a party Sat night.
