Yeah I know Facebook sucks blah blah blah

It used to be a great tool to keep track of a few key friends you've lost touch with. You caught their big life updates, new job, got married etc

Now it's all random arse people showing up on my feed because a friend liked it. I couldn't give two shits about these people.

The little bit of utility left is gone, total dogshit these days.

Your mom uses the same term to describe part of my anatomy.

I noticed a couple years ago that there were more status updates in my feed from friends of friends people I didn't know) than my actual friends themselves.

I also noticed the vast majority of "status updates" from my friends weren't really updates at all. They were just shared articles and memes from other FB accounts.

That's when I quit using it. It's beyond useless now.

It's facebook's way of gaining more clicks, views, etc. to make more money.

i.e. someone likes a post from ESPN, you see that they liked it, you're potentially interested, you view, they get paid. Frick Facebook.

I had noticed this too.

I don't know how, but I was "following" random people that I never wanted to.

Click the profile of one of those people.
Click unfollow
It will ask if you want to update your list of people you follow
Click yes

Problem solved. Back to friends and close family.

I use facebook for news. I have friends segregated to different folders and they are not in my newsfeed, so I don't have to see what the frick they ate. I have it set so some numb nuts can't post stuff to my page unless I approve. If they comment something stupid they go to restricted so they never see anything I post or can post to it or I just unfriend them.

Never had it.

I'm too much of a dumbass

I'd be fired, divorced, and ostracized within a week.
