Somebody said Redd's was the old Bruno's and I have no memory of this but I first went there like 2009/2010.

I think he's talking about the big Bruno's, not the original place across the street (don't know what it's called now, I just refer to it as "Old Bruno's".

I specifically remember watching LSU-Troy at the big one, and that was in November 2008.

They are right, but I seem to remember it changing over to where Bruno's is now a good bit before 10 years ago and then renovating maybe '07-08.

I specifically remember going to Redd's or whatever it was called at the time across the street from Quil's and getting their 40oz OE specials

It was.

That was a while ago, though. It's been at its current location at least 10-15 years.

RIP Waldo's ~$2 pitchers + being broke and collecting abandoned pitchers and turning them in for the $3 deposit.

David Melius, owner of Bruno's for the last 30 years or so, bought the lot catty-corner to the "old Bruno's--(7601 Maple St.), and built a new building, then moved the bar known as Bruno's into the new building (about 9 years ago).

The 2 guys that managed it for years, Greg and Eric, after a couple years of an Asian guy running a failing bar with a name I now forget, began a new lease with the building owner (Lucky Coin people) and started a new bar called Redd's Uptilly Tavern (a play on Uptown and Gentilly--Greg owns property in Gentilly).

Greg also owns Hurricane's bar on Vets in Metry.

And the original Uptilly Tavern was the bar in Greg's backyard.

And Eric owned Carrollton Station for many years prior to opening Redd's with Greg

No, Bruno's was in the old location for Katrina. We would meet there in the days after and David would have ice chests of beer for people to meet and catch up. The new building was held up by neighborhood groups against it. Bruno's has been open at the new location for between 8 and 9 years now. I've been going to Bruno's since 1976. Uptown drinking place since 1934 !

ETA, before David built the new place, it was vacant for a years or so, Southern Hospitality was in that location, as well as a t shirt shop.

The whole Uptown area would have been dead without them, later maybe.
