What's your opinion on clothing depicting the flag?

What is the OT's opinion on wearing clothes that have the American flag on it? Do you consider this disrespectful? Or is it no big deal? I don't mean wearing a patch, something full blown like an American flag t-shirt or shorts.

What's wrong with an American flag tank? Suns out, guns out. 'Merica.

No big deal to me, but seems kind of trashy.

It's disrespectful but most people that do it are doing so out of patriotism so I don't get offended but I do laugh at their ignorance.

If you don't own American flag Zubaz pants, then you aren't a 110% 'merican.

Full sleeve long longer the better. Let the flag fly as often as possible. Better than wearing a red flag and sickle or Che Guevara.

Trashy, but not offensive in any way.

it's all good if it is clothing using the flag pattern. it becomes offensive to some when an actual flag is modified into a piece of clothing.

I like it. It's a symbol. If you want to showcase that symbol I don't find it offensive or anything.

People get wound up too quickly and too easily over trifles.

The flag is the flag. If a portion of the flag is displayed as part of clothing or other patriotic display, it shouldn't be deemed offensive, per se. If it is clearly meant to be negative, like it or not, that is the very type of speech we should zealously protect.

This is within reasonable restrictions, of course. People should not be allowed to disrupt official proceedings or things such as a military funeral - and be deliberately provokative in this way - but either as part of a casual display or part of an organized, official protest, people should get over the idolatry of the flag. Well over a million of my brothers and sisters in arms have died for these rights - millions more been maimed - and all of us who have served have sacrificed our personal autonomy, time away from family and made other sacrifices to protect free speech - despicable as it might be.

I have a question. People intervened when the guy tried to burn a flag at LSU. Were those people wrong for not allowing him to practice freedom of speech?

I guess my thought has always been that yes you can conduct offensive forms of speech, but that doesn't mean members of the general population can't call you out for it.
