re: What's your favorite ride in Disney World?

Paying attention to the "seasons" Disney uses for their prices will tell you when the best times are to go. The lower the price, the less crowded it will be.

For 2014:

Adventure season (lowest price) is Jan 1-31, Sep 1-30 and Dec 1-14.

Premier season (highest priced) is April 13-26, Dec 24-31.

FYI - Mardi gras falls in the second highest price category for those thinking that is a good time to visit Disney World.

Exactly the times of year I like to go. And I would never go at Mardi Gras....Disney has realized they can bump up the prices then and still have people show up en masse.

If it went about as twice as slow as it does then Kilimanjaro Safari. That is what I love about staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge you can watch the animals on your schedule.

I've been plenty. The early weeks in December (just after Thanksgiving) and the early part of January AFTER marathon weekend are usually 2 of the slowest periods they have. Plus, the weather is always great.

I always go during the slow parts as mentioned above. It's still busy. It's not omg it's fricking packed, but it's still way too many people. Most rides have barely any wait, except for soarin which always seems to have a 2 hour wait besides in the morning. Peter Pan seems to always have a long line as well.

I just booked a Mardi Gras trip and they are running some nice discounts for them days right now. 2014 it falls after Presidents week and before spring break so it won't be as bad as it usually is during Mardi Gras.

Just a heads up for those heading out in the future. If you get the magic bands, you can hook yourself up with fast passes. The magic band will give you 3 Fast Pass+ activities you can schedule per day. Then, Disney will also give you the normal card to bring just in case your magic band breaks. You can use those cards to schedule regular fast passes as normal while you are in the park. It's a pretty sweet deal.

For now, but when they finish beta testing the magic bands the traditional paper fast passes will go away. Probably beginning of 2014

Huh? What more do you want? Little-to-no wait time on all but 2 attractions across the 4 parks....how much lighter can the crowds really get?

Last January (our last trip) we did the marathon, then stayed the week after. Compared to Summer or New Years, it was nothing. Honestly, the only thing that made the parks fill during the week was the Brazilian tour groups. It's their "summer" after all. The weather is very nice as well. I don't know if I'm ever going to go in the summer again.
