why tie the knot with someone if you both are going to sleep around with other folks openly? Something about this just doesn't make sense to me.

Kinda like prenups.

Yep. Some people want stable companionship, but still want to frick a bunch of different people. I don't think it would ever work for me, but more power to you if you can handle it.

Maybe they really like each other but are realistic about monogamy.

If you are truly in love with your wife I can't fathom how this can be accepted. How the F does this conversation even get started? I doubt many people go into marriage wanting it to be an open marriage but maybe I'm wrong.

Some guys are sexually turned on by watching their wives taking a load from another guy.

Why do you people force me to answer this question like once a quarter?

This question
quote:

What's the point of open marriages?

implies the only reason to be married is to frick.

That is sort of a sad view of marriage IMV.

So, I've got about 50 other responses, but that's the bottom line.

Yea I don't really understand it either, but I would guess they had such a relationship before they contemplated getting married or at least before they got married.

I should add to my prior response.

I'm not saying that you MUST have an open marriage and if you don't, then the only thing you value in marriage is being able to frick her.

I'm merely observing that the question, "what is the point of open marriage" seems to imply that there's no other good reason to be married.

And THAT my friends is a very bad view of marriage.

If you're married and the only "point" you see to it is that you get to frick her, wow...........I mean.............that's depressing.

I don't get it. If I'm paying for it, access is limited.

I'd be very surprised that someone would go into a marriage with that as the game plan with their partner. But on the other hand the world is a very different place than the bubble I live in, Bruce Jenner is now a woman and this is celebrated. I need to get with the times.

Has there ever been an open marriage that didn't end in divorce? I'm talking regular people here not celebrities or politicians or whatever.

I have no issue with someone who gets married and is monogamous. I'm just fascinated that they can't conceive of a reason someone else might STILL like being married even when they aren't monogamous.

Um, when I got married, the list of things I found important was a good bit longer than who I got to frick. If ALL I wanted to do was frick a bunch of people I wouldn't be married. So, um, maybe there are OTHER points to it!

Are you seriously asking this question? Like, you think 100% of them fail?

Well then. How on Earth would you even know?

Do you think that people who are in open marriages(or who swing, there's a difference ya know) run around with signs on their heads announcing it to everyone?

shite. You could be living within 3 houses of one right now and you probably wouldn't know it.

I know a few folks who are in open marriages...and every single one of them is because the marriage was basically failing anyway. they have basically dissolved the marriage without the messyness of moving apart and having to deal with all of the shite that goes along with it.
