I have

2015 BMW 6 series convertible- girl getter. Barely has 30k miles drive. .10% of the time

1994 Lexus sc 300 with a body kit, white on black, 19s custom sound system, rebuilt literally every part of this car over last 10 years new upholstery, rebuilt engine = this is my baby. Drive this 70% of the time

Loll 1995 maroon Honda accord with literally 400k miles on it but runs great. This is my bottom bitch car. Grocery shopping, coping drugs lol, going to gym, you might find a gym bag, some womans sandles, lose oxy, a pack of camels or a bottle of orange juice in the car at any time

Drive a "luxury" car for 6 months, then go back. You'll see the difference.

This. I drove Hondas for many years. My last car was a BMW and I currently drive a Mercedes.

I liked my Hondas and they were very efficient and reliable. I liked my BMW a lot. But I absolutely love my Mercedes. It's three years old and I still love to drive it. I didn't pay much more for it than the price of a decked out Accord. I'll never go back.

And I can still afford to go on several nice vacations a year (not cruises).

Almost zero interest 72 month financing, or low front load leasing allowing people to buy cars they could not otherwise afford." would be more accurate for 99.99% of buyers in the luxury car market.

Let's hear the terms on the vehicles in your househ

My comment was meant to disagree with the other poster's assertion that luxury cars are bought by people with money to throw away. While some people can afford to pay cash, the majority lease or finance, which may be a good economic decision for many even if they have the cash. In hindsight I should have worded the part about vehicles they cannot afford differently. Myself, I drive used trucks and Jeeps which I pay cash for, my wife considers a car worn out once it has been washed a few times, and always seems to have current model car that is financed or leased.

You sound trashy, but I'm going to need more evidence to confirm this theory.

Trashiness confirmed.

This is very true.

But I don't intend to have a car that requires extraordinary amounts of service.

I drive a 2015 Audi S5. Paid for it with cash.

Maybe if you weren't poor you'd understand.

Do German cars break down more because the car is a piece of shite or do they break down more because the type of person who drives a BMW/Benz is the type of person who is gonna test its limits?

Your average Honda/Toyota/Acura/Lexus driver is probably more conservative and keeping those RPMs in the max MPG range.

I've driven luxury vehicles and owned nice ones. True luxury cars are more than a few options nicer.

Most haven't. They've driven the 70k souped up versions that aren't really luxury.

Well the way I look at it, why pay someone at a shop money to do something you can do yourself or have friends help you with?

They will come to my office to pick up the car to change the oil and rotate the tires (at least for the first 25k miles) for free. Anything after that under warranty is free. I don't expect to have tones of service eitger. Current car is a Lexus and is ranked 1st in reliability. But knowing that service is there is nice.

Also, as I had said, we are looking for a new SUV for the wife after having our dash Crack for the second time in our Tahoe (along with a list of other knick knack complaints). Stopped at Mercedes. They will wash and detail your car for free for the life of the car...plus they have a chef prepare lunch and dinner every day. So you can go on your lunch break and get a free lunch and car cleaning. We aren't going to get the Mercedes, but that's a pretty sweet deal.

The thought that luxury cars break down more and are always in the shop is a complete myth. I've had 2 "luxury cars" and 2 GM made cars in my life. By far the one I had the most issues with that was in the shop the most was my Tahoe. My current car is a German luxury and I've had 0 issues with it.
