I read late last year the city was planning on implementing better enforcement programs, including booting vehicles. Has that happened yet? I got one about a month ago. Should I just pay the $117 or say frick it?

Meanwhile, the amount of money the city is collecting from the red light camera tickets has dropped dramatically, from $3.17 million in 2013 to an expected $2.3 million in 2014. The city-parish is budgeting $2.3 million in revenue again for 2015.

See a downward trend... Ah screw it lets just pray for a change and budget for more money then we will have

You will not get a warrant, its a civil penalty not criminal.

who's going to arrest him? The private arizona company ATS?

The Advocate wrote a story in Sept. 2013 saying about 40 percent of the tickets issued since 2009 had never been paid, and the city-parish had never pursued anyone for it, beyond having a collection agency send them letters.

quote:

"The cat's out of the bag, you don't have to pay them, so that may be an explanation (for the ticket revenue dropping)," said Council Member Ryan Heck, who voted against extending the contract. He said the issue is a "dead horse."

I got one about 4 years ago, never paid it, the warnings stopped and never heard from them again.

Nah,

I reached out to them to ask for more details because it includes a link to the video of your violation. I wasn't even in the area that day and my father who was in town was borrowing the Envoy.

I told the lady on the phone I am not going to pay this and then she asked for my fathers information, I told her you're not getting that. I received a few more warnings in the mail for the next several months and they stopped after that.

Tell them it was your friend if you want to do anything about it. I wouldn't pay it.

Speaking as a retired state trooper, red light tickets are bullshite. It is a program designed to extort money from the public. In a criminal case, you can go to court and have the officer appear and testify as to the incident. In these kangaroo civil proceedings, a camera can not testify to the circumstances at the time of the alleged violation. The accused has to post a large cash bond to pay for the hearing that is run by a stooge paid by the red light company. I wonder how that will come out. Citizens should recall any elected official that supports this scam. I would not pay, but that's just me.

Same. First some company from Ohio (I think?) sent me letters trying to get me to pay the ticket. When I ignored those I started getting letters from some law office in Arizona. Ignored those too and nothing came of it.

It's all bullshite.

Are they aware this is Baton Rouge? Not New Orleans. Booting vehicles isn't going to really work in this city. Are they going to stalk downtown and get the few people who actually go out there and park on the street? Or are they going to send crews to random grocery store parking lots and businesses?

I got one and will not be paying it. If they do report it to my credit agency I will call the credit agencies and they will take it off right away.

They could get the van that drives around and scans license plates all day. Still bullshite.

I take an inordinate amount of pleasure in fricking with these people when they call me. I am not usually cruel to telemarketers but these folks get the full ride.

I always ask lots of questions, act like I am interested in paying but then start asking them to read the statute, explain the legal basis and so on. I also usually tell them to hold on a minute because someone is at the door and then set the phone down for a while. It has been my experience that one of these calls and they must notate my account because I never hear back or get a letter again.
