Looking at different models of cars and want to drive one for longer than the usual test drive.

Is there a way to rent a specific car from a company? I would like to drive it for work 1-2 days to get a good feel for it.

We've purchased the last 4 vehicles from the same dealership, they bring the one we are interested in to my house and drop it off.

I did this with a car I bought last year. Called Enterprise and rented the exact model I was interested in. Drove it for 3 days. Liked it, so I bought that model.

Go to a local used car dealership. Usually let you drive a model for a day or 2 once they get your information. That's at least been my experience.

Ask the dealership?

A local dealership gave me an SUV over the weekend when I was shopping years ago.

Go look at it on a Friday, act interested, then tell them you need the weekend to think about it. Unless you look like a shady character they will suggest you drive it home and keep it over the weekend. It's part of their sales tactics.

ok thats a good idea. Will it matter if im looking at used? the good news is i want a 17 Maxima with under 10k miles so driving a new 17 Maxima will be almost the same.

I just hope they are cool with me not buying the new one. lol

Is it a dick move to drive it for the weekend and not buy it?

Take a car for a test drive and don't come back for 1-2 days?

Seriously just ask to use a demo.

Then right after that tell them, "Good, because I was planning on bringing my dogs to the lake for the weekend but don't have room for them in the backseat of my Camry."

I have a personal dealer and manufacturer. They make the car for me in one of my garages for me on the spot.

What else are you considering?

I can't imagine what the deal breakers would be.

Look at CarMax.

They have like a 5 day return policy if you want a true extended test drive

Ask to drive one a couple days. They might ask to run your credit to make sure you actually can buy it, but most dealers I know would tell you if a customer takes one overnight it's rare they don't end up buying it.

Once they park it in the garage they've already taken mental ownership.

The dealer I bought my car from let me take several models home on overnight test drives. I didn't have to ask, they offered.
