I just got a policy from AAA a couple weeks. I also checked out Fidelity Life. Both had good rates.

Best quote I ever heard was, "A wife doesn't know the importance of a life insurance policy, but a widow does"

that's nothing. everybody should be carrying a million plus term if they are not old and have a family.

True but more to it than that. Any kids? Idea there is to get them past college if something happens to you suddenly. Figure what they will need until, say, age 25 or even 30. Term is a good option for children as beneficiaries. As far as Whole, what is your current age?

I know I carry enough that if my wife knew, she would've smothered me in my sleep years ago.

Does your employer offer supplemental life insurance that you can purchase yourself? Many do.

Select quote isn't bad either. I've used them before.

ETA: While you're at it, get quotes for long-term disability if you don't already have it or don't have enough.

Do them a favor for me... Whatever insurance you decide to do for a death benefit, you have to add paycheck security in there somewhere. I would wager your employer offers supplemental insurance through a Colonial Life or Aflac type company. Buy supplemental accident and hospitalization without fail. With deductibles and OOP gaps the way they are today, you have to protect your lost wages and savings. Also, buy cancer and heart attack coverage as well as short term disability. 1 in every 2 men will be diagnosed with some form of cancer and 1 in 3 women, the same. Supplemental pays for lost wages, travel expenses, lodging, and much more. Medical doesn't touch those things.

FWIW, Aflac has higher premiums and lower payouts for all of the above compared to Colonial. My personal experience. Colonial also has great rates on all term, whole and variable offerings as well.
