My buddy just got hired and is pretty pumped about it. He thinks the cars will just sell themselves and that's it's gonna be easy. What are the opinions of the OT

Pretty sure it's terrible. Shitty hours...commission based pay...your customers generally don't like you...no thanks.

Smart Cars is where the money is at. You land a gig selling those babies and the money will start pouring in! Easy 20k a year

my buddy is a new car manager at a large Chrysler Jeep store in TX. He makes bank but he has been selling cars since he was 18. His team sold 300 new cars last month. But the guy works his arse off. Works every Saturday and getting time off is next to impossible.

Don't have to be at work early so most go out drinking every night. At least they did when I was bar tending.

I just read a great article online by a guy who went "undercover" to see what it was like selling cars--new, used, high pressure, not-so-high pressure, etc. Can't remember the name of the article but try googling "what's it like to be a care salesman."

Long story short: the GM or head of sales will immediately become your worst enemy if you don't sell well. Margins are low, hours are long, customers suck and you're under great pressure to extract maximum $$ from your buyers by any means necessary.

Have fun!

God I hate the process of buying a car. I'd hate to be on the other side of that every day.
