What Would You Do If You Caught Someone Breaking Into Your Car At Night?

Let's say it is the middle of the night and you hear something outside. You peak out the window and see someone inside your car, going through your stuff. What would you do at that point, and in what order?
- Call the cops?
- Grab your gun?
- Confront the person?
- Shout at him from a distance?
- Fire a warning shot into the air?
- Try to apprehend / subdue him until the cops arrive?
- Taze him if you have a tazer?
- Break his legs with a baseball bat?
There are endless scenarios, some of which could leave you with a bit of explaining to do to the authorities. This is something I think about often. Ideally, I'd like to somehow subdue the person rather just scare him away, but I would also not want to get in trouble with the law.
What would you do?
ETA: Further, what devices would you use to catch a person breaking into your car, assuming they circumvent your alarm system if you have one. I've heard of people using baby monitors...

Unless he showed that he intended harm to you or someone else, you just call the police.

Then I'd peak out the window and try to see which way he runs or just to make sure he doesn't come inside the house.
There is nothing in my car worth shooting someone over.

you can do that after shouting. Odds are the second he hears someone yelling he is going to take off
