My dad made me have blue collar jobs in the summers in HS and college.

Mine did the same thing. It kept me quite motivated to finish school with good grades. Working from sun up to sun down in the Louisiana heat is something I wouldn't want to do for the rest of my life.

Not sure if the summer(s) painting houses or the summer working in a film warehouse. I worked with some cool people painting houses. The film warehouse was run by an old guy that was an a-hole. He worked me like a dog and complained that I wasn't doing enough. The only time in my life I was fired from a job.

Target while in school. The only positive thing I could tell myself at the time was at least it wasn't Wal Mart.

Being a laborer for a construction company that builds plants or add things to plants. South Louisiana summers sure do suck when you're doing this all day for 6 days a week. Makes you want to be in school and finish school though so for all you youngins out there you better make good grades in school and not mess around too much

There was this huge wall 700 ft high and 300 miles long up in the northern part of my country that I use to guard. Couple months ago a horde of zombies and a dragon blew it the frick up. So now I am looking for a new job. If you know of anyone hiring HMU. I do have a record though so I hope they can look past that

Working for a local finance company. Lending and collecting money from the dregs of society. Some of the things I've seen would break your heart, or make you hate most of humanity depending on the day.

Working for a bug exterminator. I had to rake every square inch underneath houses: dead animals, used condoms, whatever.

High School summer job in Baton Rouge digging swimming pools. We were the "LABOR" when the backhoe was done and had to muck out the mud and last amounts of clay. One five gallon bucket at a time...... Really hot in July in the deep end of what will be a pool for someone. Sucked!

McDonald's

This place was miserable. They work the shite out of you for minimum wage (which was $3.35 at the time).

I lasted maybe two months.

My worst full time job was loading classroom chalkboards on the back of flatbeds for minimum wage. I don't remember how much they weighed but they were the old school 15 foot long chalkboards, one man on each end.

Worst individual job was clearing away a giant pile of used syringes from the courtyard of an Iraqi hospital. I don't know if they didn't have trash service but for whatever reason they'd just tossed all their syringes out for so long that they had a ten foot pile. Probably bitched about not signing up for this shite 1000 times that day.

I boxed tomatoes one summer working in a packing shed, after the 11th grade.

I thought I had it hard until I watched the migrants picking tomatoes.

Would tell people I spent one summer as a boxer. Impressed some of the girls with that line.

Drywall- Pure hell moving drywall up to second level of malls only by stairs and then carting it to the store we were remodeling, and then unloading and repeat. Then hanging it. I was exhausted every night. I was 16. Increased strength and quite the leg workout.

Reading some others it reminded me when my best friends dad bought an old gas station to make into a used car lot. We were brought along to help do demo and cleanup. We were tasked to clean the bathrooms. It was the most nastiest job I have ever done.

I disagree. Worked State St in 86/87.

You simply needed to stay busy. During downtime when there were few customers, you just needed to grab a rag and wipe something.

There was always something entertaining going on. Employees stealing and getting fired, managers losing their shite over worker stupidity and laziness, hot chicks showing their tits in the drive through for extra nugget sauce ... nothing but good times for me.

My worse job came after that. Worked for a research project at LSU where a colony of horned flies needed to be maintained. To hatch eggs, fresh cow manure was needed. To be research quality, it had to be fresh from a cow’s arse. Collecting fresh manure right out of the tap was my job.
