We seem to be gaining more stories day after day about today's youth claiming to be hurt by words/micro-aggressions.

What is the actual cause of this nonsense & how much deeper is this going to get?

How is the vocal minority gaining so much ground? Is the silent majority just too busy actually working & living normal lives?

How can we "fix" these offended kids?

These kids are going to be killing themselves in droves as they hit their late twenties and thirties. Their parents have completely failed them. Life isn't a movie where everything is sunshine and roses. Life is largely overrated and a pain in the arse. These kids aren't prepared for that.

It's all the media talks about. Kids see other kids bitch enough to get their way and figure they can do the same.

We can't. We're doomed.

I talk shite to my son and I let him talk shite back

He's only 8 so I keep it relatively mild

He's hilarious and nothing hurts his feelings

Life will do that. Or they'll destroy the country completely. It's impossible to sustain both them and the country.

These kids grew up with no wars, no conflicts, no struggles, massive technology boom, no memory of a time before social media and cell phones and cable TV and Internet.

They are both over and under educated at the same time and they're whiny entitled pieces of shite.

It doesn't help that the last 8 years our government bent over backwards to appease this piss stain of a generation. So as they grew from 16-24 up to 24-32 they learned to yell loud and bitch for no reason. No one has stood up to them, and they have enough money and student loan debt to continue to throw piss fits. They're still living with their parents and making $10 /hr at Starbucks bitching about how life isn't fair. They don't know what life is.

Life, or more specifically, a job and the daily grind, is for the most part a miserable fricking experience. There are some people who enjoy what they do and there are exceptions to the rule, but there are plenty of moments in life that just flat out suck. You have to deal with them and move on. These kids have never had to learn to deal with adversity. So when they face it they freak the frick out.

They also seem incapable of manual labor and blue color jobs. Construction, plumbing, electricity, etc... Are all fantastic ways to make living but these people would rather argue that a Walmart cashier and a Starbucks cashier should make 40/hr instead of understanding that those jobs are not meant to sustain an entire household for life.

What makes matters worse, is the silent majority got tired of them and started ignoring them. And the louder they get, the more those normal hard working people resent them.

At some point they'll be forced to grow up and work at a shite job for an a-hole boss or they'll starve and they are not prepared for that. And they've spent so much time infuriating the people who occupy Middle management in this country its going to be a very rough and rude awakening for them. And when they bitch about it, no one will give a frick. Even if it's justified.

Someone should've read them two stories when they were younger: the boy who cried wolf, and tortoise and the hair.

I'm genuinely concerned this is going to happen.

A buddy had to fire some recent grads at work this month because they couldn't handle being told to get their work done or they wouldn't have a job. They spent too much of the remaining time trying to find a way around that fact with HR than actually doing what he paid them to do.
2 of them threatened suicide & blamed the company. He had to get their legal team involved.

Millenial here, I RA'd because your post hurt my feelings. You'll be hearing from my daddy's lawyer about payment for the mental anguish I've encountered.

Genuinely impressed with the lack of responsibility older generations take for the current state of affairs.

We're sorry for providing a mostly war & worry free existence for our children.

That said, there were plenty of chances & years of education to prepare them for the real world. The fact that they didn't pick up on it & instead yell loudly isn't the older generation's fault. And it's certainly not the entire older population to blame. Just like it isn't the entire youth population screaming out. But there are far too many of them doing it. Far more than those in the older generation responsible for the "current state of affairs".

I think social media, the main stream media, the current political landscape, and the education system are much more to blame.

Yes there are parenting issues and government issues, but the sudden explosion of the Internet, social media, and Facebook is an unprecedented world changing event. It's akin to shite you learn about in school like the printing press as a thing that just changed the entire world completely within a generation.

This really is the problem. Instead of appreciating that and working to continue this great period of prosperity and growth this generation wants to tear it all down and frick any chance of growth into the ground for seemingly no fricking reason. I go back to that women's rally after Trump won.

They had no point, no leadership, no cause, no structure.

They hadn't lost any rights, they didn't have any demands, they didn't have a message, they just rioted because their candidate lost a fair and open general election for control of a country they've run for the last 8 years.

There was a subtle but terrifying shift in this last election. It started a few years ago but it tipped this last election. For a long time you had two candidates and you bashed the candidate you didn't like and when the other guy won you were upset about that guy winning. I remember Bush v Gore and Kerry. I remember the media shitting on Bush and I remember people hating on Gore and Bush and Cheney, but I don't remember the hatred of each other. Even with McCain and Romney v Obama I don't remember people actively hating the supporters of those candidate s.

This last election it wasn't people hating Trump, but it was people hating his supporters. Anyone who voted for or supported Trump became a public enemy. That's dangerous.

Throwing tantrums is what a three year old does. Cries and holds his breath for no reason because he didn't get what he wanted. And I don't know what the solution is. There is an unhinged psychotic unreasonable insane sect of our country that has an insatiable appetite for chaos and a terrifyingly fascist ideal that their beliefs are unquestionably correct and should be implemented no matter the cost.

Spot on ! My dad grew up in St. Helena parish in the 1940s and. Was one of seven kids. He milked cows before going to school and when he made the mistake of back talking his mother, he left and joined the Army. He was stationed in Germany during the Cold War during the early 60's. My dad was a hard arse at times but my siblings and I learned hard work and respect for our elders. There are teenagers today who will disrespect their parents, teachers, and bosses because they are too busy playing on their iPhone or listening to Taylor swift album.

No wars or draft to worry about. It's really embarrassing. I have cousins who shacked up, had unprotected sex, and now has three or four kids without being married. If I had done that, my dad would have kicked my arse and told me " good luck with that".

Millenials need their asses kicked !

Middle-aged people are also complaining about the same hurtful words in case you didn't notice.

Just keep being as offensive as possible, and then they won't think the small stuff is that bad after a while. I'm an equal opportunity offender

Pst, they're not really "hurt" any more so than that accident victim who's suing your insurance after you tapped his car backing out of the parking lot. It's a tactic to silence dissent, manipulate news media, create the illusion of concensus on social media, and get power and accomidations from authoritative bodies like municiple governments, school administrations, and law enforcement. Just like they're not really mentally ill. They are gaming the system for prescription drugs, disability benefits, and testing accomidations and other school benefits. It's a racket.

This is why I said it's a social and main stream media problem more than a generational parenting problem.

Not really. Gen-X'ers finally got in a position where they are important enough to tell everyone that they are also important. They passed on that line of thinking to this new generation. They had it all along though, but it was just a bunch of repressed feelings because their parents were normal people and made them act properly
