I got a ticket on 9/30/14, see this thread here

The date the cop wrote on the ticket says, '14 day of September 2014'

i didnt notice until i went to pay for the ticket, which no one answered the phone in St. John Parish.

Do i have any claim for this ticket to be thrown out?

I know, I am a POS

Is your time really best spent on a $100 ticket? Pay it and move on.

Erase the second slash in the date. Then you won't have to go til September 3014!

I'm pretty sure it can.

My friend had a DWI thrown out because the cop brought a copy of the paperwork from the incident instead of the originals.

Burn it, mail the cop the ashes and move on with your life.

But, you probably gonna need a lawyer, and that will cost more than $100.

Yes, but they have a record of you getting a ticket on ANOTHER date. Or am I missing something here?

I had a DUI thrown out in Oxford because the cop did not write down the court date, so no due process since i wasn't given the right date to show up and defend myself. If something were wrong with your court date, I'd think your ticket could be thrown out, doubt that would be the same just for putting the wrong date of the infraction.

Contest it on a technicality. They can't prove you were driving on 14 SEPT. I've done it before and got it dismissed brah.

I'm pretty sure that if the ticket is inaccurate then it can't be admissible in court. I know this is the case in civil litigation.

Without a valid ticket...no infraction.

when they write the wrong date, it's like a get out of jail free card. just ignore the ticket, do not pay, do not go to court. you're golden.

You're probably right. I'm a transactional attorney, I know nothing about civil or criminal court, pretty much speaking out of my arse when I try to get into conversations about litigation

What's going to happen:

1) You're not going to pay it because they don't have it in the system for the date on the ticket.

2) You're going to think you're awesome.

3) You're going to get arrested and charged with contempt.

4) A judge is going to ask you what happened. You'll deny knowing the dates were off.

5) I'm going to come out of the audience with a copy of this thread.

How exactly does he substantiate it's the "wrong date"?

He just show up and say, "That cop right there gave me a ticket, but that's the wrong date"?

And they the judge says, "Oh, okay, let me rip this up and toss this out right now. Sorry for your inconvenience, sir."
