What level of crime would it take to turn your child, spouse, or parent in?

Spin off from the pedo thread. I'm suprised so many people responded shocked that his own mother turned him in.
Sex offender would be a no brainier. I'd also say if my child or spouse was an out of control drug addict I think turning them in would be the only way to help them.

Felony crime of violence or, perhaps, severe misdemeanor involving violence.

Violent crime. As far as white collar, it would have to be something on the Madoff level.

Unless you've been in that situation, I doubt we could answer it properly.
Sure, we'd make our kids apologize to a neighbor for breaking a window, etc. But if we're talking getting our kids sent to prison, I think most parents would be hesitant to turn them in.

George: You're a good friend. If you killed somebody, I wouldn't turn you in.
Jerry: Hey, Kramer, if I killed somebody, would you turn me in?
Kramer: Definitely.
Jerry: You're kidding!
Kramer: No, no. I would turn you in.
Jerry: You would turn me in?
Kramer: I wouldn't even think about it.
Jerry: I can't believe I'm hearing this. You're supposed to be a friend of mine!
Kramer: Well, what kind of person are you going around killing people?
Jerry: Well, I am sure I had a good reason.
Kramer: Well, if you'll kill this person, who's to say I wouldn't be next?
Jerry: But you know me!
Kramer: I thought I did!

For my child, it would have top be something where turning them in would be the best for them. Like drug addiction. Also being a pedophile. I wouldn't want them victimizing a child but id rather get them the mental help they need and not prison

I turned my brother in for marijuana possession several years ago. He never talks to me anymore but I don't regret it. I've seen that drug ruin too many lives

I would never hurt my children; I would do everything in my power to change them, but, I would be in their corner, always.
