Things I’ve Learned
1. You don’t have to drink to have fun
2. You have way less regrets
3. People will judge the shite out of you
4. You sleep so much better
5. You get less sad
6. You develop more empathy for others
7. You save so much money
8. You get tired earlier
9. You become amazingly productive

I just wanted to post the list from the article in case people didn't want to click the link.

I've never experienced number 3, but I can definitely see it happening. I have maybe 1 drink a year, and I am very happy with that choice.

ETA: I also don't flaunt the fact that I don't drink in the faces of others. Maybe that is why I haven't experienced number 3 on his list.

Good for him, nice story. Headline should've been "What I learned since I quit drinking, started exercising, & stopped generally being a frickup"

#3 because every non-drinker I have ever met just can't wait to tell me they don't drink. Like vegans, they act like their choice makes them morally superior and this is why I don't trust them. Same goes for ultra religious folks as well, keep that shite to yourself.

Sole exception is for folks who say outright: "I can't have a drink because I used to be a raging alcoholic." I can respect that.

If I didn't drink I'd probably have some stupidly expensive hobby and probably spend more. Drinking is economical. how else can you have that much fun for $20?

I like early mornings a whole lot more than I did.

I have a glass or two of wine at family gathering,Sometimes a Beer with a Burger.I like Single Malt Scotch.

I just haven't had more than 2-3 drinks in close to 15 years.

Hangover free for that long. That was my goal.

Don't understand why one without alcoholic attributes, can't just drink in moderation.

Yea I mean I feel like this would apply way more if you are someone who is drinking 5-6 nights a week. I drink on average Friday and Saturday at the most, and only get any semblance of drunk, if I do at all, one of those nights. I can't function at work with a hangover so generally I don't drink during the week.

Some people have issues doing anything in moderation. Go big or go home in every aspect of their life. I always suspect those are what people label "functioning alcoholics".

I have held off for a month + a few times this year. None of that applies. It's exactly the same when you take away the day or two of recovery after a long night of partying

I drank heavily 5-6 and sometimes 7 nights a week from 18-25, and had no negative effects
