What about the people who, for one reason or another, go through a change (a move, a new child, etc) and decide to give their dog to a shelter or a friend?
Well since the alternative makes them "scum", you've pretty much answered you question, eh buddy?

I guess there are dogs and owners who are just opposites and the dog is naggy, useless, and therefore not really loved.
For me it's different because I'm single so he's my companion and we hunt and train together. The hunting forms a bond that's pretty tough to beat and I look forward to watching my dog grow and learn as much as I would my own child. He's a friend and a tool which makes him irreplaceable.

Do you think I'm a horrible person because I gave my dogs away?

This is one of the most pathetic things I've ever read on this site, congrats
Your dog is loyal to you because you feed it, it'll be loyal to the next person who feeds it, too.

The fact that some people think shelters that have to put dogs down eventually are some evil thing are messed up.
They try to place them in homes but they can't keep infinite animals indefinitely.
Sometimes hard decisions have to be made.
I've had to put dogs down once their quality of life had deteriorated to a point where it was hurting them. I didnt like it but it was my dog and my responsibility to see it through. Not some vet's or some shelter's.
It hurt and it's probably the reason I don't have any more dogs to this day.
But to say someone that makes the decision to do it themselves is "evil" is just an example of how privileged we've become.
A shot in the head is no more cruel than a doctor's poison.

I'm very sentimental about dogs . Mine is with me all day and sleeps at my feet at night. I personally view the compassion that one has for animals as a real insight into their character. If you can kick the family dog to the curb for convenience I feel like you would do a lot of other things as well. The undying loyalty from another species really should not have occurred, it kind of defies nature to a point , and to be loyal back seems like a way to complete the circle . It has your back and you have it's back.

Till death do you apart right? Through sickness and health...for richer or poorer right?

You cant use dogs as a character defined
Every president has dogs, and they are pretty much all deplorable figures
