What do you think is the best balance of cheapness and good quality (or at least something not terrible)?

Feel free to name brands of beer/alcohol

I'm somewhat picky about beer, but in other things I can handle the cheap stuff that might not be all that great.
Trader Joe's $3 Charles Shaw red wines are as good or better than any $10 or under bottle that I've tried.

Karkov vodka with knockoff Kahlua, root beer and cream. Tastes like a root beer float. I call it a Montana Bulldog.
