Are they in the same category as a pit bull? I know they are a different breed but are they as dangerous as they say the pit bull is?

They are pretty mean, and will bite you with the quickness. Not an ideal dog

My wife has been asking to get one. My neighbors brother has a litter. I don't want a big crazy beast terrorizing the neighbor if he ever gets out. If we do buy one

This is a lie and hopefully a troll.

They are GREAT family dogs and are very sweet. They are just huge and look mean so they are a favorite of people wanting a mean guard dog and they are raised to be like that.

You can raise a golden retriever to be mean if you want.

Rotties are very protective over their family though.

Yesterday or the day before I almost saw a Rot and Pit lock up in the Garden District on Camp St.

Some lady was walking the Pit and walked by a house with a super short gate that a Rot was in and the Pit nearly pulled away from the lady while both dogs were trying to get over the gate.

I just stood on the opposite side of the street waiting for the show.

They do not have the latent instinct to snap like most pit bulls do.

They really are great dogs.

Any dog that isn't trained well will bite with the quickness. My rottie is a giant teddy bear, unless you aren't supposed to be in our house anyway.

they are very smart. Train them and they shouldn't be a problem.

FWIW, I believe that pit bulls shouldn't be allowed to breed and should be neutered so the breed slowly disappears.

Also, I have a goldendoodle. Just to give perspective.

And I think rotties are incredible dogs. Great animals.

we had one for a couple years, was raised right, seemed like a great dog

out of the blue one night he attacked my dad, fricked him up pretty good, got all infected, bites on his arms and chest

he was gone the next day

Then don't raise it to be that way. It's not hard.
