You know how in college you try to maximize your dollar? Enter East West Hotel in LA (CA) for $24.00 + Tax for 4 best friends.

Bottom floor is a porn shop. The hallways are about 2 1/2 feet wide. Same for the stairwell. Carpeting was dirty even though it was a dark color.

Opened my door... Or tried to open the door and it promptly slams into the bed frame. Squeeze into the room. <20" black and white TV on a fake drawer. Bed takes up 80% of the room. Hearing yelling and cars zooming by outside even with the windows closed. Start laughing at this point at the ridiculousness of the situation. My buddies bring up a sheet of plastic from the car to lay on the bed.

Well, at least we have a place to shower and wash up. Same deal with the door here. It can barely swipe past the sink. I close the door, and there's a dirty handprint on the backside of the door. Interesting... Turn on the sink. Brown water. Turn on the shower spigot. Brown water. "Let's just use the water bottles we have in the car." I was so tired I just laid on the plastic covered bed and fell asleep.

Next day, I find out the other half of the group just went to a Korean Spa instead. Me and the other guy give them a and to make make up for it we decided to detour to Las Vegas and promptly spend way more money then we all budgeted.

Looking back, it was hilarious afterwards. Even more hilarious, just this past spring break another group of friends went to the same hotel for $90. They were complaining about it, "We went to this shitty hotel in LA."

"Wait, was it East West?"

"... What... How'd you know?"

Stayed at the tower hotel on the West Bank for drill weekend once. They had like 100 of us there for drill.

Walked in and the dude behind the counter was in street clothes, seriously thought the place was getting robbed.

Drunk dude with one leg in the elevator that sounded like it was going to fail at any moment.

My room didn't have a TV or shower curtain.

Master Sergeants room had needles and a bag of weed.

This was a year or so after Katrina long before holiday inn renovated it, place still give me the creeps when I see it.

Down in the keys. We flew in late due to late flight leaving NOLA. Stopped in Key Largo for the night. I get room key, and we go to room. Open the door a dudes in the bed with his family. I'm like he gets up same way so I'm like I'm very sorry as his kids lift their heads up to see what's going on. Awkward as frick. Hotel comped the night, and breakfast at the restaurant when I went to get a new key. The wife and kids were laughing as I slowly opened the next door to make sure all was clear. It was awkward as hell the next day when I saw them leave the room.

Shitty airport hotel when flight canceled...had been in a really nice hotel previously and so it was already a major difference with sheets like sandpaper, etc. The walls were paper thin and I could hear the guy next door on the phone for a while, but that was nothing compared to 3am when he woke up with fricking night terrors. Nothing like being jolted awake from a deep sleep by the screams of a stranger.

I walked up on a junkie shooting up another junkie in the stairwell of the top floor at the Marriott Denver City center while walking up a flight to the lounge. The guy shooting her up hauled arse with his buddy and left her in a heap, needle in arm, tourniquet still on her arm untied.

Well, it wasn't until the three of us got back from Matamoros to the hotel in Brownsville that I realized that they were really dudes, AND that they wanted money. I was shocked; and they were shocked that I didn't know. I did not give them a dime or touch anything I wasn't supposed to; but after they left I realized my fake Rolex from NYC was missing.

I miss that watch.

Beaver Creek, Yukon Territory. Left Southeast Alaska driving toward the Anchorage area and it was 50 degrees. When I got up in the Yukon, it was snowing and getting colder. By the time I reached beaver Creek (Alaska/Yukon border) it was 20 below and whiteout conditions. I was trying to make Tok Alaska for the night but couldn't see the highway. Only "motel" open for the night in fall/winter was some old construction buildings (ATCO) stuck together and called a hotel. Paid $100 bucks for a small room with a toilet, and the only others in the place were some natives partying. Couldn't find any liquor to buy in town, no cell service and everything was closed. Electricity went out, no coat with me and the wind was blowing through the walls. Coldest night I can remember sleeping through. Left about 6am and headed for the border, so glad to get out of Beaver Creek.

They took my pillows one time when i went out to dinner.

After ringing the bell for a solid 10 minutes i decided it wasn't worth it and just rolled up a few t shirts.

Who takes pillows?

You win. I need to know the answer, though.

What Is The Worst Experience You Ever Had In A Hotel?

About a year ago in Istanbul. I don't remember the name of the hotel. I was by myself on business there. My company books a very nice hotel for me that I like, but it was overbooked one night and I didn't find out until the day of. I actually had a conference call that night and did not have time to go across town to the only Hilton in town that had rooms. I was too tired to care from travelling, so I somehow got a room at a dump about 5 blocks away from my normal hotel.

That place was horrible. Thank God it was only one night. Aside from being convinced that I was going to be kidnapped and beheaded in that place.....the room was probably worse than the very worst dorm LSU probably had 30 years ago. It had the look of a hotel that was nice when it was last renovated 50 years ago but has not been maintained at all since then. I pulled open the curtains to find that the window was bricked over. The roof and floor had water stains. Between the tiny room and the adjacent bathroom, there was one working light bulb (that kept fading in and out) and one working electrical outlet. I don't want to actually go into detail about the bathroom. Pretty much the stuff of nightmares.

About an hour after I fell asleep, someone starting banging on the door and shouting something in Turkish. I didn't open the door and whatever it was eventually went away. I somehow got back to sleep after that.

I heard one of my company's founding partners ran into a similar problem a few months later. They moved him to the same hotel. He looked at the room and immediately got into a cab and slept at the office.

Runner up would be on the top floor of an Oklahoma City hotel during a tornado outbreak.

Once stayed at a hotel in Nashville across from Vanderbilt where a guy next to my room started smoking late at night. It was permeating through the adjoining doors. The guy must have smoked a carton of cigs.

My dad and stepmom had some guy use a generic key card and come into their room when my dad was in the shower. Stepmom screamed, and my dad came out and kicked the guy into the hallway and then chased him down the hallway butt naked. Dude was lucky my stepmom isn't quick thinking enough to grab the gun sitting right next to her.

They checked out 10 minutes later
