What is the OT's opinion on American flag etiquette?

Was just on instagram and saw a selfie/glamour shot of two girls (sorry, wont show it) laughing and looking each other while lying on top of an American flag on the ground. Its kind of a stupid looking picture and you can tell they're both pretty clueless. Anyway, it kind of pissed me off. I was always told that the American flag should be treated with respect. What's the general consensus on it from the OT? I know some people who think the rules are stupid.

I'd bang them on the flag for my country.

I'm a vet and I don't care about stuff like this. That's probably also because I'm not a baby.

Why get angry over what 2 people you don't even know are doing.

That's just silly.

It's a fricking flag. If we read in a history book that Hitler had rules regarding the Swastika like we have with our flag people would talk about how crazy and totalitarian it was.

When I was in Boy Scouts in 6th grade, our scouts leader said he would cut Into so many pieces they wouldn't find me for 6 weeks if I didn't fold a flag correctly. Lesson learned.

You know people who think the rules are stupid or you think the rules are stupid?

It's really just a matter for you as a person to figure out. I personally would never lay a US flag on the ground but then again..... I'm sure most people that live in the country don't even like it here. Yes, even those that have family roots that run deep.

But hey, for me and my house...

I don't give a shite about the flag. What it represents is important.

I'm not the most patriotic person, but I grew up learning to respect the flag and not let it touch the ground. I know it may seem silly to some, but I still try to respect that

Two girls on the ground and you are worried about a flag? You sound like you can only go half mast. Sorry, bro.

I used to be the type of person who actually cared about patriotism. As I've gotten older it seems like kind of a silly idea to me. The flag disrespect still bothers me. It's an ignorant lack of etiquette. Whatever. Sometimes maybe you can't blame people for being stupid.

Sitting with a flag doesn't seem disrespectful. In fact it seems more respectful. You like it enough to include in normal activities.

It's not being burnt.
