What is the oldest that you've ever seen someone pledge a fraternity?

Knew a guy that went into the military (Army) after high school. He served four years and attended college when he got out. He decided to pledge a fraternity his freshman year and was 23 years old. Is it unusual to pledge a fraternity at that age or older?

Depends on where you're going to school.

Being a newboy at Alabama when you're fresh out of the military sounds like a fricking nightmare.

But doing it at a regional/commuter school probably wouldn't be bad.

I had a pledge brother in his mid twenties. It's not uncommon for fraternities to initiate much older guys (forties, fifties, or older) as an honorary thing without a traditional pledgeship.

The oldest guy I ever heard of to go through an actual pledgeship was a 40 year old retired Navy SEAL who pledged DKE at Yale. LINK

If I pledged now I'd be invisible. I wanna see an active frick with me. He better check my knuckles. I'd also slay that 18 year old pussy like it was a job.

In the late 60s, we had a guy pledge our chapter at 71. He was deceased long before I got there, but supposedly they hazed the old dudes balls off.

It was more for socializing with the ladies for me. My frat wasn't my life. It was just something I did a few nights a week.

My rooomate pledged TKE at 28 as a joke. As soon as they asked for money, he told them not a damn chance in hell.

I'm not sure who the bigger loser in this story is.

We had a military vet in our pledge class that was 21 I believe. But he didn't last long, he realized quickly that being hazed by people younger than him after serving in the Navy was not something he would put up with. No one could blame him.

Navy doesn't haze like they used to.
