You get what you pay for. Make sure the Concrete Company gets paid for their materials if the price you get includes the concrete. Otherwise the Concrete Company can and will appropriately sue you and win from you (the Homeowner) for the concrete's cost.

So in essence you would be paying for the concrete twice.

The Concrete Company can't repossess an in-place concrete patio and the Homeowner is ultimately responsible to pay for all materials delivered and permanently installed at his/her property. In a case of non-payment by a Contractor, it's not the Concrete Company's fault that the Contractor chose not to pay for the material.

It's Joe Homeowner's problem as they are getting the benefit from the improvement.

Good luck, choose wisely.

I had some work done at my place the year before last. It was a 16' x 30' and a 10' x 10' slab done for my dog's kennel. I used a company called Meanco. They did everything (dirt work, framing the slab, concrete finishing, and clean up) for 3k and did a good job in only two days.

Roughly $4 a square foot without you having to lift a finger other than to hand over payment.

My old house had a pavered back and side patio, pavered drive way and pavers by the front door. shite was a pain in the arse with weeds always growing between the pavers. Never again.

I used Meanco to pour an 18'x20' patio extension this past Sept, paid $1800. ($900 day of pour, $900 after they took the forms off)

The sales guy/estimator was fantastic, they had about a 4 week lead time.

The site foreman Raymond was awful and lacked communication. Raymond made the decision to the pour the slab when rain was on the way. They had to tarp it after doing the broom finish and the tarp wrinkles/creases cured into the concrete. After 3 months of bullshite from Raymond trying to fix, dodging my phone calls, etc they eventually came out and tore up the old patio and completely repoured.

WTF are you talking about?

OP, you could have it done labor, materials and all around here (NELA) for 3-3.50 per sq ft. It may be a little more than that in BR.

Proper installation using geo-fabric would forstall your weed issue. They are very cheap and very easy to install. As in all things...'prep' work and common sense are VITAL, to a successful project !

High dollar paver installations are done over a concrete base with a sand bed between the concrete and the pavers.

But I agree, pavers on appropriately prepared base for foot and light vehicle traffic are a wonderful and effective alternative to concrete flatwork or paving.

Look into stamped concrete. They can make it look like slate or pavers, and put in colors of your choice, but it's a solid slab.

We have a large area of it. People usually don't believe me when I first tell them it is a solid slab.

They can also overlay any existing concrete with a thin layer of it so that it all blends together.

3.00-5.00
Some guys have equipment like a bobcat for grading and are professional. They will be on the higher of range.
Some guys like only doing small stuff and have a board for leveling and a broom. They will be on the low side.
