Back in 94, lady down the street having a garage sale. I was 18 and would never have stopped but saw a subwoofer on the ground in the driveway.

She had just stuck a bunch of her sons stereo stuff out. She had no idea what she had. Got a Precison Power amp and two Pyle subs for $40. She had a grand of shite out there easily but all I had was $40.

I've have no idea where her son was

A couple weeks ago I snatched up a leftover 2015 Jaguar XJL Portfolio Premium Editiion for $18,000 off sticker.
ETA: That rivals the deal I got on my Les Paul Custom Black Beauty back in 1981- $599. It's still in almost perfect condition and worth a hell of a lot more now. They were selling for around $1,100 back then and I got mine at a "going out of business sale."

At an antique furniture shop in Germany, I got an entire bedroom suite- headboard, footboard, rails, new mattress, 2 nightstands, small dresser, full length mirror, and double armoire for 165 euros, which was about $185 at the time. Germans didn't like it bc it was kind of Queen Anne style, and they were big into modern. Years later, I sold everything but the small dresser and full length mirror for $300.

My mother in law got a Minnie mouse costume for my daughter for 3 cents during Black Friday.

1978 FJ55 Iron Pig with moderate rust $500. Like a Baws!

that's a deal, unless the rust was really really bad.

I really like those.

Not that I believe you, but they are called square groupers, not white lobsters.

No, Blanco langosta, which translates to white lobster. I have never heard the term 'square grouper' LINK LINK

I guess it's a regional colloquialism.
I have traveled a great deal in Latin America but have never heard them referred to by that name. I have heard them called atun blanco (white tuna.)
Square grouper is more of an American term.
Angler dies after snorting square grouper
As the article mentions, it is applied to any jetsam packages of drugs, but most often with bales of marijuana.
What is a Square Grouper?

Found another interesting article on langosta blanca.
Will definitely learn more about this on a future stop in Bluefields en route to Islas del Maiz (Corn Islands.)

After a summer of shrimping in Texas/La waters before my sophomore year in 1985 I bought a 1969 SS/RS 396/350 Lemans blue convertible camaro for $7500 and still own it to this day. The 80's were a great time to know burnt out druggies that needed dope and had iron to sell. Also bought a 1983 CJ7 that I still own as well for a little less than 3K.

Artompkins,

Those are two awesome rides. I have to admit I am more than a little jealous.

2 free round trip tickets on Northwest for buying a round trip ticket that went from Baton Rouge to Biloxi via New Orleans. It cost $79. Did it with a bunch of friends who found the deal. When we got to Biloxi they just put us on a bus for the ride back to Baton Rouge (at our choice). It was supposed to only be one free ticket but I got two of the forms and managed to get them both stamped. Northwest was really sloppy in handling the paperwork for it.

About 25 years ago in high school I wanted an older Les Paul Standard. Found one for sale in the paper and went to pick it up. Didn't know a ton about old Les Paul's was advertised as a 68. I looked at it and thought it was older bought it for $650. Turns out it's a 1960 burst one of the most sought after guitars of all time. Still have it today.

Just blind luck really; a 15 year old with cash and junkies with habits that had iron to sell.

In 2004 I bought a Honda Shadow VT700C with 7,000 miles on it for $700. I rode it for 3 years, sold it for $1,000 when I moved up to a bigger bike.

That thing was bullet proof. Water cooled 700cc (it was a 750 block that was modified to get in under the import displacement loopholes) with a shaft drive and 6 speed transmission. I wish I had that bike today...it was a blast to ride.

Where I currently live. 120 acres of land, cattle, a horse, beautiful farm house. All I have to do is feed the horse twice a day and my wife and I get our run of the place. Good hunting too.

Rent: $500 per month for as long as I want to live there.
