Hanging rock and insulating as well?

Have 5 friends gutted, dried and ready to get started back that I've been working with. All have insurance but as most no content. Think they are considering painting themselves at this point depending on cabinets, granite and appliances run.

Just trying to get a feel for the numbers.

What are you asking? How much the materials cost?

heard on 870 from their "expert" that for most it would be cheaper to tear out all and start over to save on having to float. seemed excessive but he said it would probably cost close to the same for most.

Wouldn't they need to float it regardless if they were doing 6 ft or 10 ft (or whatever)?

There is always taping and floating. Even with all new drywall you will still have non tapered edges to float as well.

Doing your own drywall work is really not that difficult. The materials and tools are relatively cheap.

They float rock in their sleep. Then they wake up and cut your trees down and pour a slab.

Have they checked how dry things are with a meter? Seems awful soon to be sealing it up based on what I have been told.

The $.50 for tape and float is right but that Sheetrock price is was off. 1/2" Rock is going for roughly $.50 / sf and you can get it hung for $.50 / sf.

They all have large commercial humidifiers and air conditioners that I got. It has been tested and sprayed for mold. Moisture is close to 14%. We gutted to 8' on all of them to the factory edge. The only rock that will need taped and floated is the new rock and where the factory edge meets the existing factory edge at 8'. Electrician has changed all receptacles and checked all wiring. Plumber is in now doing minimal work. New wood blocking is going in for cabinets and accessories. They will be ready to hand rock by about Monday. Each house is about 5500 sf of new Sheetrock.

Well you're in a disaster area so you're gonna pay for it. In my market I can get it hung all day everyday for $.50.

One guy told me 2.50 x SF of the house
The next $1 per SF of Sheetrock. (Half as cheap as the first guy. )

I've used both before and they were great.

Most is hung by square foot of actual Sheetrock not square foot of living area.

So I can discuss with them 3.50-4.50 square foot of actual Sheetrock to furnish, hang, tape and float? Haven't gotten numbers yet just beating on the calculator with them. They all are elderly and aren't going to do it and I'm just helping locate people for them and make sure they don't get jammed. My church friends.

Martini make sure wherever there are exposed studs to re nail all of those studs. 5 years down the road that is all going to rust. Also they need to be re bolted or shite into the concrete. This is very important.

Good point. The Rock was screwed but the studs are just galvanized nails. Thanks for the tip.
