Isnt it insensitive to call the flood a special event?

It could trigger, yes.

It's people buying stuff to rebuild.
After Katrina, the Metairie Lowe's was like that for two years.
The Metairie Lowe's was the number one store in the country for a few years.

OK, it was a little dumb.

just figured maybe there was some type of FEMA thing going on there. If not, that store's business will be insane.

Imagine being an employee right now. I wonder if they will up their pay to keep them around during the boom? I would assume the chaos added with angry customers would drive most employees to put in their two weeks notice.

The Lowe's in Gonzales has been the #1 store in the company since the flood. My friend said it's like working on Black Friday everyday with 1/2 the amount of employees.

I know the Stine store in Walker is doing crazy business because I think the closest HD and Lowes both flooded. They sold several thousand dehumidifiers.

Lowes does need to hire more people. Right now they're trying to keep up by sending people from other stores in the state and putting them up in hotel rooms or paying them mileage to commute from Houma and New Orleans and such. I heard on the radio last week that Depot was having a job fair at the Marriott. Anyone right now that could pass a drug test could get a job at one of them I would imagine.
