What is a redeeming quality of Opelousas?

The only thing I think it is good for is being a lot stop between Shreveport and Lafayette/BR/New Orleans
If anyone knows another redeeming quality of it I would like to know

A lot of my family members were born there years ago. Great grandparents, all the way to my mother. My mother's generation was the first to leave that area.

I think there are some historic homes there. Also, Palace Cafe is a cool little nostalgic diner there.
