Well, localized water pollution or mosquito control could have something to do with that. Frogs don't respond well to chemicals.
Could also be something chowing down on their asses. We surely aren't the only critters that like frog legs.
FWIW, I saw some big arse treefrogs hanging out on my parents' shed this weekend. Probably 2 dozen of them underneath the light. There are always flies and moths there, so easy meals.

I cut the lawn yesterday and at least half a dozen scurried away from the mower.

treefrog on the outside of our bedroom window the other morning.
my little 20mo old was in the room so i lowered the top sash and picked it off and hilariousness ensued in the bed until the SO became fully awake.

Guess they're at my house. Seeing plenty of toads and last time I cut the grass I ended up destroying a pretty three striped grass frog's leg.

I've had a ton of them (toads actually) since the flood. Never seen so many hopping around and out of the way when I cut the grass.

I see dozens of frogs a day. I saw at least 10 this morning while walking my dog and I will see a bunch more tonight. I also saw two fireflies the other night, and those were the first I have seen in probably 20 years.

What happened to the lightning bugs?

Frog AIDS got 'em. But no, seriously, it was the chytrid fungus, which is supposedly associated with global warming.

My yard is infested with them

We have a toad that is in our yard almost every night. Dog tries to eat it, gets foamy mouth from whatever the hell the toad secretes, and I put the toad over the fence.
Got the same problem. You'd think he would learn, but he hasn't yet. Get's sicker than a "dog" each time he does it.
Is this a secretion from the frog or just some type of musk on the skin?

Nobody really knows, but there is a definite die-off going on with all amphibians. Frogs, toads, salamanders, newts. Science has been stumped to zero in on a cause. Speculation - climate, virus, fungus, chemicals in water, ground. Then to top it off here in FL, there is an invasive species of Cuban tree frogs that is larger than the native tree frogs. In fact, it is big enough to out-compete natives for food, and also eats the smaller natives for food. FL naturalists say whenever you see a Cuban tree frog, kill it. But I say, a frog is a frog. We can't afford to waste any of them.

What do you mean? I see a bunch of two-headed frogs with five legs all the time downriver from the plant.

Sorry I like chasing frogs, mice, and rats.
