What habits have you formed that have had a good impact on your life?

I'm reading Tim Ferriss's latest book, Tools Of Titans. The gist of the book is him interviewing 100s of successful people and they share their daily routines, habits and productivity hacks.
I'm not a huge fan of the layout of the book, but it has some interesting content in it and got me wondering what the OT has to share.
Since I asked, I'll share first. I probably haven't had a week without alcohol since I was 16 years old (early 30s now). Not a drinking problem by any means, but I would always party on the weekends and meet friends for drinks after work. I haven't had a drop of alcohol in 3 months and physically and mentally I feel better than ever.
I asked my dad this yesterday and he said "making the bed". Sounds corny, but it gives him a "win" first thing in the morning that carries on throughout the day.
Do you have any to share with the class?

1. Get up early and go to the gym. Wife + kids + job = fooling yourself if you think you can do it after work.
2. Pick one thing I need to get finished today and make sure it gets finished no matter what. Helps with that "what the hell did I do with my day" feeling that you get in management.

Good one. I feel this way often.

If something can be done in less than 5 min, I do it then.

Delaying gratification.
Living below my means, but still living well.
Make yourself seemingly indispensable.

90% of success is being there.
And "being there" means being there on-time, with a postitive attitude and ready to take on whatever might come up.

smiling in the mirror after brushing my teeth in the morning. I had serious issues with my teeth growing up and never smiled. now i make it a point to smile as much as possible since i now have teeth i'm not ashamed of.

Drinking, otherwise I would have likely choked or stabbed several.

In the morning, I like to start my day off the same way each day. I have my alarm set to my favorite song, so I wake up in a great mood. I always make the bed and put the decorative pillows on the bed. Then I put on my warm slippers. I take a slow stroll to my kitchen in my slippers to avoid the cold tile floor feeling on my feet. I open the fridge and get out the jar of peanut butter. I warm up about a half cup of it. I walk over to my porcelain throne with a heated seat and then I slowly smear that peanut butter all over my testicles. Then I whistle for my dog and have her lick it all off while I take a rather large dump.

I have been smoking more, drinking a lot more and in the bars a lot more and I haven't been this happy in years.

10 years ago I decided to seriously commit to fitness and never looked back. This was one of the best decisions I've ever made. The discipline that comes with the lifestyle has transcended the gym and made me a better person.

Not complaining to other people. Either fix the problem yourself or ignore it. Nobody wants to hear anyone else bitch and complain, because they have their own lives and issues.
