I'm talking about local tourney last flight. Would like to enter one but don't want to look like a complete hack!

The Baton Rouge area tourneys have players that are probably 20 and below

There are always a few that shoot over 100

Just do it. You'll have fun and almost certainly won't be the worst player.

Join the Golfweek Amateur Tour. I've seen guys shoot 112 and they had fun.

Every tournament fundraiser I enter to play with friends asks for handicap. I always answer "Im fat and drink too much!"

We never win but I always get a lot of strokes

Make sure to tell the tournament organizers an honest handicap so they know about what you shoot, they will group you with some people ok with it for the most part and go out have fun with it.

LA Amateur Tour.
If you shoot over probably 90 you would go D flight and a good round in the mid 80s would put you in contention. Bad news is you will be playing with mostly old guys that don't hit it very far. The regular players usually shoot in the low 80s and play B flight.
