Whenever I see or ponder this question, I think about the scene from Lonesome Dove with Clara and Cholo. I think they may even be digging a grave. An Clara asks him this exact question and old Cholo says something like "I dunno. You are just dead I think."

For some reason that scene always depresses me.

Do you black out and that's all she wrote?

Or is there something afterwards?

You don't "receive" total consciousness. there is consciousness. there is no one to "receive" it. you are it. that's all there is. I would love to have a discussion with the Dalai Lama. I saw him live last year, attacking another sect leader for being too modern in their approach to healing.

Caddyshack? Bill Murray? Helloooo.

Personally, I think that when we die we play saxophone for an all girl cabaret.

does NOT wanting to come here count?
I'm talkin' about a prebirth memory
it wasn't so much death, as it was scared to come here after what I was shown.
that there'd be cameras everywhere, and I remember a sound like a jake brake, but in reverse. [[jake brake, on a truck, makes a rat-a-tat-tat sound from loud to soft. this was the exact opposite of that, and it scared me....then I was escorted to an opening..and I was trying not to go, to grab onto something, bu there was nothing to grab, then I was nudged into the opening and that was that....

well, I didn't know either....I never spoke of it, til I was lots older, finally told mom a few years ago.
and periodically, I'd remember it and just not know wtf to think about it, then at about 9yrs old it faded away, only to come rushing back one day in the 80's, when peter jennings was reporting ABC's world news tonight and one of the top stories was about cctv's in the UK, and that they'd be everywhere!!!! and BAM, the memory came rushing back to me like a freight train, and scared me again but still had no f'n idea wtf was up.
