I'm going to be entering the job market again within the next year and I'm thinking about relocating for a change of scenery. What are some of the things that you like and dislike about the place that you live? Make sure you name the city/town in your post.

It's proximity to NYC, and that's about it. Leaving Philly today though.

I have few things negative to say about Dallas and the negative things I do have to say are trivial.

Like: Major city, close to good beaches and mountains, centrally located in SE, booming dining scene, something for everyone, not unnecessarily pretentious, good beer scene, great college football town
Dislike: Race permeates everything, some of America's worst traffic, terrible city governance

Dallas/Fort Worth
Like: So much variety in food/entertainment. You want to be a cowboy? Done. You want to be a jet setter? Done. Literally everything in close proximity: from hiking to amusement parks, lakes to night clubs. Southwest flies everywhere for dirt cheap if you want to get away for a jaunt. Lots of urban renewal so there are real estate bargains if you know where to look. Lots of pimped out places if you have the $$ and don't feel like searching.
Dislike: Traffic BLOWS. COST of living a little higher than it should be. It may take some time to settle in with the type of people you enjoy hanging out with. TRAFFIC SOME MORE. Ultra-competitive for some types of jobs.
ETA:
Food here is great, too. Never met a taco stand I didn't like (but you have to know what you are asking for).

Los Angeles area:
Pros: Always lots of stuff to do. Close to the beach and the mountains. Great weather most of the time.
Cons: Too many people and way too much traffic. Obamas were in town yesterday and we could think about was how screwed up the evening commute was going to be.

I live in a moderate size town in East Texas.
Pro: No traffic and can be everywhere in about 10-15 min or less
Con: The town doesn't have much culture. Chain restaurants and not really much in the way of outdoor festivals.

Where do you go hiking around DFW? Didn't think there was any.

How can this be a bad thing? I think you mean cost of living.

Pros:
-More quality places to eat than imaginable.
-A really awesome local culture.
-Everybody drinks at any sort of public event. Heavily.
-A lot of nice rural places just outside of the city if you want to get away for the weekend.
Cons:
-Winters are brutal and last for at least 4 months.
-Not something that bothers me, but it's full of stereotypical mamby-pamby, loud-mouth liberal types. And that's coming from a person that considers themselves pretty liberal.

Dislike: Rain/clouds. Cost of living.
Like: Outdoors opportunities, high standard of living, mountains, sea, good people, lots of restaurants/arts for a small city/large town. Relative feeling of being isolated but still have a decent small city around.
Neat neighborhood though, my place is on the water, on the far side of the harbor next to the new condos going up.
