Wife works shift work in Norco. Flipflop day and night shift schedule, weird hours.

Grandparents not close enough to help. She could either drop off or pick up from daycare when she's working. Schedule won't allow both.

There are 24 hour daycares. Might be something worth looking into.

are they reputable ones the OT would trust their kids at? I've only seen 2 in the NOLA area and they are out in the east. I don't do the east in general, but maybe if she worked at a plant out in Mereaux instead of Norco

Get Jody to watch them.

He already takes care of her.

my current job would allow me to help out. We have a daycare selected and ready to go....I have a job offer that is a significant increase in salary, but would not allow me to pick up/drop off consistently.

Whether I take the job or not, I'm interested in knowing what options are available in that scenario.

Google 24 hour daycare New Orleans and the first place to pop up is Smart Start uptown off Broadway. I dunno how reputable this place is but it's not in the East.

Part of being a parent. You have responsibilities to your child. In an extreme case, it might mean finding a different job. Or you could go the expensive route and hire a private caregiver. Spend that money you're making at the plant.

I've hear this same story from more than one parent who has a plant type job. Some have the guts to even complain about it. Like apparently someone is supposed to step in and take care of the child so they can work.

Your child, you make the sacrifices to make it work.

24 hour day care and not having the kid on a regular schedule just so you and your wife can have more $$?

the kid would be on a regular schedule...his mother wouldn't.

A 24 hour daycare in the sense of (open for pickup or dropoff between 6p and 6a. Not in terms of "oh this is like a hotel for babies, let me just keep him here overnight."

He'd never be at the daycare more than 8 hours.

If your new job is really that big of an increase then hire a nanny. It's only going to cost you big while the kids are younger than 5.
