Dumb. You saved next to nothing in process. Definitely not enough to retire off of. Hey, but believe what you want.

I buy the generic brand of waxed beans. I can hardly tell the difference if I rip off the labels.

My wife throws away the toothpaste tube when shes finished and always has a little tooth paste still in it. So I use a small pair of scissors to open it up so I can scoop out the last bit of tooth paste on my tooth brush. Usually can get 3-4 brushings that way. MONEY!

I'm a thrifty bastard, no problem admitting it. I am tight with things I need so I can enjoy things I want.

I will spend a lot of time looking for Pro-V's in the woods if I'm behind a slow group (instead of playing through them.)

That's literally the only thing. I'm probably the most anti-frugal person on here. I get 93 gas & brand name everything except skim milk.

i won't wait in line but I'll definitely push the needle using GasBuddy, to save a couple bucks. It's more a game/thrill than the money.

and I'm George-esque with parking. Mainly because I hate screwing with meters and apps.

I'm guilty of toothpaste tube revisiting (squeezing every last bit of gel out) but I've never opened one up.

If I'm using liquid laundry detergent and the bottle is low (< 1 capful left), I'll store it upside down so all the remaining liquid drains into the cap.

I drive sedately to save wear & tear and gas.

I do most everything around the house by myself but that's more of a control thing than a frugal thing.

I don't use a travel agent, but hardly anyone under 75 does anymore.

What is cheapskate and what is just "good sense"?

I oftentimes order just water with lemon instead of buying a drink with my meal.

I went back to double edge blades when razors got to be $15 and I really like them. For $20 you can buy a two or three year supply of double edge blades on Amazon. I had moved to shavings soap--the cheap Williams or Colgate bars--year ago because I like the hot water in the brush and soap much better than shaving cream.

I started putting on my calendar any contracts I have for cell phones of cable/satellite and have saved big money.

I always buy the cheapest gasoline. It is just stupid to over pay for gasoline---by the same token it is foolish to drive more than a mile or two to save a few cents.

I put a lot of miles on cars before trading them---greater than 200,000.

I never pay interest on any credit card nor do I finance any household purchases besides my house. (some people here argue that is foolish and say I am ignoring the time value of money on things like furniture at 0% interest. I have always been able to buy furniture cheaper for cash than anybody has ever financed it. I start with cash offers of 50% of list price and go from there.)

on and on.

There are things that are simply good sense and some thing are "penny wise and pound foolish".

No.

You need to order water with lemon. Ask for some extra lemon slices. Then combine the water and the lemons with some of the free sugar packets on the table.

My mother was a child of the Depression in the 30,s and she taught us well. Some of the tips were:

Flatten out the used aluminum foil and wipe clean and flat with damp washcloth. Reuse.

Only Flush the toilet after you crap.

Cut coupons for the food you normally use and save.

Wash and save any aluminum pans that you may can use later.

Mommy had plenty of quirky ways but the one's I look back on laugh at today we're....she saved all rubber bands and any kind of string.

No offense but in this day and age those things are silly and irrational.

There comes a point where the effort outweighs the reward.
