What are your thoughts on parents who let their toddler scream in public?

Say for example in a hotel lobby while you're on vacation. And I'm talking about the ones who just sit there and let it happen. Honestly I'm just happy that mine are past that age, so I grin and bear it having been there. To single folks it must grate their nerves huh?

I would support their immediate execution. Give the kid something to actually squall about.

Some parents of young kids just don't get it.

There's not much you can do, especially since most are itching to turn anyone in to DHR. When my daughter was a toddler and she acted out in public my wife of I would take her to the car or something.

Some parents have read books that teach them to let their kid cry no matter what and don't try to stop it because it teaches them something I don't know what but it drives me nuts

Was thinking about this the other day. We really were "blessed" with two of the best behaved kids you've ever seen.
My 8 yr old daughter help calm down a crazy screaming 4yr old in the library the other night. The librarian said she'd been wrecking the place for 30/min.

As long as I see an effort, I feel bad for them and just deal with it.
It's important to understand, they are probably so run down, that it's pointless to imagine they give one ounce of a frick about what I or the people around them think.

Sure there is.
We've had 1000s of complements over the years on how well our girls act.
Which is a direct reflection on the parenting skills my wife and I both have.

Well they're caught in a catch-22 situation. Whip child and possibly get arrested because some nosy bitch called the cops. Let child scream into they pass out and get stares and talked about then cops get called anyway because child done passed out.
I'm the past it's happened to me. First time I bring my child to the store with me by myself. He throws a fit something he's never done before. By the time I make it to exit I see guys with walki talkies following me like I stole the child. Yes, it was at wal-mart. I wanted to beat him bad. In fact I want to beat him now and this was 10 years ago.

You need to look up that ADHD episode of South Park homie. That miracle treatment of a smack in the arse and being dragged out of the restaurant worked on my kid.

As long as it's not my kid, I don't even hear it.

In a private setting, it can be good for the kid to let it out because itll teach them that its not the proper way of getting attention.
Now when you are in public, shut your kid up somehow and punish them at home later. I also dont like seeing a 300 pound dad whooping the shite out of his son in front of me which only makes him cry more.

I think they're crappy parents, but I also pity them because at least I can walk away from that mess.

Kids act out. No matter how great of a parent you are, it's a part of their development. I had horrible parents and was a good kid. You just have to be there for them and try and guide them when/if they do act out.
Posted on 6/1/15 at 6:33 pm to mpar98
I just give them whatever they want to make them shut up

Toddlers and babies can be hard to control. Even though I don't have kids, I know this. I don't think too poorly of the parents in most circumstances, although it can be pretty irritating. Kids will be kids. On the other hand parents who let their kids tear stuff up, just run around unsupervised, and/or bring babies into movies can go straight to hell.
