The burnouts I usually met came from BR or NOLA .
Standards were significantly lower for ULL when I was applying years ago. I applied as a safety just in case I didn't get accepted to LSU. I was instantly accepted for ULL as soon as I hit submit because a 23 in the math section of the ACT (IIRC) was all that was required. I needed to have a 27 ACT minimum to be accepted to LSU because I had a really shitty GPA in high school.

I think it was a 21/3.0 for LSU in 2002. Ole Miss was something ridiculous like an 18 and 2.5.
I appreciated the low gpa/high ACT acceptance thing LSU did, but my poor performance in HS carried over to college. GPA should be weighted more heavily IMHO

Last time I checked there wasn't one Louisiana school at the top of any kind of "good school" list except for Tulane

drunks and good cooks.
If you're from Louisiana or at least attend a Louisiana university, people, especially the women will drool over you...
but again, drunks...
however, Louisianians can handle their booze better than a lot of folks and its acceptable if/when we get out of hand.

It was a sliding scale for when I applied in 2007. If you had a lower GPA then they would accept a higher ACT. I had like a 2.5 in high school, so I needed a pretty high ACT. Too much fricking around. Too much smoking weed. I turned it around in college. It was time to get serious.

Because they pull those kids from two major cities.
These are kids that either didn't want to pay for LSU or missed the score by 1 or 2 points

Can't speak for the current state of things, but based on my exposure years ago you're not far off. Add Baptist/Protestant to the stereotype.

I could have gotten into LSU or SELU.
Southeastern gave me a full ride plus housing and a stipend, so I went there.
Everybody on campus was commuters and wore LSU gear daily.
If I went back and did it again, I would have just gone to LSU.
