There's no black people, italians or pollacks. And as a racist, I certainly appreciate that.

I considered living there for access to Gulf, via Lake P, I am a serious boater. I think it has good possibilities.

Madisonville junior high school is full of trash, but the nearby private schools are very good.

If by Madisonville, you mean the proper part of town, then obviously the bridge opening, halting traffic is a big problemo (a little Italian for the racists).

If by Madisonville you mean Brewster Road, Dummyline, the new subdivisions near I-12, then you've got the convenience of I-12, plus the shopping / restaurants out there.

The downside to western St. Tammany is the traffic. The upsides are the rivers / lakefront, restaurants, various festivals, music at trailheads (Cov & Mandy), schools systems (public and private), Tammany Trace, recreational districts, security, fledgling white collar job hub and solid non-profits,

Hence, per usual, it's a good place to raise a family.

I would (and did) live in downtown, CovLa (especially if your children go to private school). Allows you to avoid a lot of the traffic. If you're an OT Baller, then Tchefuncta Estates is the answer.

Yeah, I should have included this under "upsides."

If you're a REAL OT Baller, Brady Island is the answer.

After living in Metairie for a few years, West St Tammany traffic is light.

At certain times of the day, traffic can be heavy on 22 and 21, but it's all relative. I've previously lived in Huntington Beach and San Francisco, CA. Madisonville's "traffic problem" pales in comparison. I live right by the bridge,so that's a semi-frequent inconvenience. But if that's my biggest problem in life, I'm gonna be alright.

The hate Covington schools gets makes me laugh. People act like they're inner city cesspools when the reality is they just have more diverse demographics. So ridiculous.

It's boring as shite if you're single and/or under 30. I grew up there. The river is great during the summer but that's pretty much it.

Good place if you're doing the family thing though.
